AIB Choral Society
The AIB Choral Society is looking for new members across all sections – Tenor, Bass, Soprano and Alto….we are very light in the Tenor and Bass sections. If you like to sing, why not come and join us for a practice, or two and see if you like it.
The AIB Choral Society, founded in 2002, is a four part mixed choir drawn from staff, ex-staff, pensioners and friends of AIB. We practice every Wednesday in AIB Head Office, Molesworth Street from 7.30pm to 9.30pm and cover a wide mix of music from Abba to Opera and everything in between ! It’s hugely rewarding and great to connect with former colleagues.
Our annual activities are the Summer and Christmas concerts in addition to performing at AIB Corporate events throughout the year.
We have successfully taken part in competitions and festivals in Kilcoole, Arklow, Sligo and Dublin (Feis Ceoil), and we have given concerts in Dublin, Cork, Galway, Belfast, Carrick-on-Shannon and Lismore in aid of local causes.
Spreading our wings, we have joined the ‘Really Big Chorus’ at the Royal Albert Hall in London, travelled to Poland to sing in Krakow Music Festival, performed as backing choir to Celtic Women’s Xmas CD and travelled to choral festivals in Vienna, Prague and Verona.
Our Summer concert this year was the first time we performed in front of a live audience since December 2019, due to Covid, and it was great to be back together again. During Covid we practiced via zoom and recorded a number of virtual performances for AIB including a summer and christmas concert, wellbeing events with Gavin James, appreciation awards and long service awards ceremonies. We also took part in the virtual Cork Choral Festival.
If you would like to join the choir please let us know by emailing aib.choralsociety@gmail.com We resume practice for the Spring/Summer / Winter term in early January and will be practicing for the Summer concert and also planning a trip abroad to sing at a European Festival. So why not come along and join us for a few practices and see if you like it! Let me know if you will be attending over the next few Wednesdays so I can keep an eye out for you.
