Flying Club – Weston Airport
Now that you might have some time on your hands, would you (or a family member) be interested in taking up a new challenge and learn how to fly?
If yes, don’t miss out on a chance to find out how to take to the skies with the AIB Flying Club, based at Weston Airport, Co. Kildare.
Many people approach the thought of flying with trepidation but, once they take to the air with the ability to handle the controls themselves – which they can do on their first flight (with full dual controls under fully qualified instructor direction), they find it hard to drag themselves away!
Established and funded by staff enthusiasts in 1982, the AIB Flying Club (trading as Hotel Bravo Flying Club Ltd. view fact sheet ) has been operating continuously from Weston Airport, near Leixlip, since then. It has given hundreds of active and retired staff and their family members the chance to enjoy the freedom of Irish and foreign skies.
Many have gone on to attain their full private pilot’s licence (PPL) with the club. At present, under the direction and guidance of the club’s four experienced instructors, two more of our members are approaching their final tests for the award of their full licences.
The club often hosts open days for prospective members. During these, club members and instructors will be on hand to let you know what’s involved, answer any questions, cut through the jargon and show you around our aircraft and the airport’s facilities.
If numbers and especially weather conditions permit, you (and a passenger if you wish) may even avail of a short flight at modest cost with one of our instructors. In the meantime, do enjoy the following short pieces of video - take-off and overhead airfield view. Do leave a comment if you might be tempted to take up this challenge and we’ll get back to you without delay.
